Membership Categories

The Academy offers four types of membership. Regular, Fellow, Emeritus, Provisional, Associate, and Student. Under the by-laws, both Fellows and Emeritus members are considered Regular members.

Provisional Members: New members start as Provisional members and hold this status for one year after acceptance. After this period, they can be promoted to Regular or Associate membership.

Student Members: Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution to qualify for Student membership. This status is maintained as long as they remain students.

Associate Members: Open to individuals working in forensic science who may not meet the requirements for Regular membership but have demonstrated integrity and professionalism.

Fellows: Fellowship is granted to Regular members who meet specific criteria demonstrating expertise and significant contributions to forensic science. Candidates must apply and provide evidence of meeting these requirements. The Membership Committee evaluates the application and submits it to the Board for approval.

Membership Categories

Student Members: These members may participate in committees and attend AGMs but do not have voting rights.

Regular and Fellow Members: these members hold full voting rights and are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.
