To qualify for Regular or Associate Membership in the Ghana Academy of Forensic Sciences (GAFS), applicants must be actively employed in the field of forensic science.
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
– A completed application form.
– A recommendation from a current GAFS member or two reference letters.
– An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
– Please note: A one-time application fee of GH70 is required.
All applications are evaluated by the Membership Committee, which prepares a report for the Executive Board. New members are formally accepted during the AGM.
To qualify for Student Membership in GAFS, applicants must be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution and meet one of the following criteria:
– Taking forensic courses as part of an undergraduate programme.
– Pursuing a master’s degree.
– Enrolled in a PhD programme.
Applicants must provide:
– A completed application form.
– Proof of current enrolment at a post-secondary institution.
– An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
– Please note: A one-time application fee of GH50 applies.
After graduation, student members are granted a one-year grace period to secure employment in the forensic field. If employment is secured during this period, the member can apply for Regular Membership in GAFS.
Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee and submitted to the Executive Board for approval at the next AGM.
Fellowship is available to Regular Members who meet specific professional and academic requirements. Candidates seeking Fellowship must apply with supporting documentation demonstrating that they have fulfilled all necessary criteria.
The Membership Committee is responsible for evaluating the application and confirming that the requirements have been satisfied. Their findings are presented to the Executive Board for final approval.
